Pathology is the study of the causes and effects of disease or injury. In Pathology, we study the changes inside our body that occur either due to a disease or resulting from a syndrome.
Pathology is a subject that you must understand the process and not to memorize by heart, like memorizing drug names.
I would say that Pathology is one of the most important subjects you should study as it acts as a foundation for studying internal medicine later on. You should understand why a patient is presenting with certain clinical signs and symptoms and why you are performing certain investigations and interventions, and for that you should know pathology thoroughly.
Some tips and suggestions -
Know your basics - remember that these subjects are not just for exams, you are going to need them for life. It's not necessary for you be a genius in anatomy and physiology but you should know the basics for better understanding of pathology.
Collect resources to study - Trying using various resources and combination of learning techniques.
Don't memorize the facts, Understand them - understand the pathological process that happens in that disease and don't memorize it.
Make notes - Only reading from various resources will not be very effective. Compilation of all the import information in one notes will make your studying a bit easier as well as you'll have all the information in one place.
Prepare flow charts, quick notes or flash cards which you can read when you don't have much time.
Study actively and work in groups. Discussions help in improving our understanding of a topic.
Repetition is the key - The more you learn, the more likely you are to forget previous topics. So best way to remember all the topics is repetition.
Quiz yourself and review your mistakes - test your knowledge again and again and do a self-review from time to time.
